Alexis Alverson, Intern
I have been a registered nurse since 2011 and am a counseling intern here with Steadfast Wellness. During my career as a nurse, I have developed a passion for helping those struggling with trauma, gaining insight into one’s authentic sources of strength and happiness, and supporting others on their journey to mental wellness. I strive to reduce the stigma and negative perceptions related to mental healthcare by normalizing conversations around therapy, mental health, and self-care. My approach is client-centered, working with you to create the life you envision. I provide compassion, accountability, support, and a safe space to explore your inner self. My goal is to accompany and encourage you throughout your journey toward healing, personal growth, and stress reduction.
Focused Therapeutic Approaches
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive behavioral therapy is a psycho-social intervention that aims to improve mental health. CBT focuses on challenging and changing cognitive distortions and behaviors, improving emotional regulation, and the development of personal coping strategies that target solving current problems.
Choice Theory
Choice therapy emphasizes personal responsibility and focuses on the present rather than the past. The therapy is based on the belief that people can learn to make more effective choices and improve their lives by taking responsibility for their own behavior and making choices that are in line with their own values and goals.
Strength-Based Therapy
The focus is strength. Instead of dwelling on weaknesses or past failures, this approach taps into your natural strengths, resilience, and resourcefulness to foster personal growth. By emphasizing what you do well, it helps reframe challenges, build confidence, and create a more positive outlook on life. This therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all—it’s tailored to you, recognizing that you are the expert on your own life. By uncovering and amplifying your strengths, it empowers you to navigate obstacles with a renewed sense of self-belief and purpose.
Areas of Interest
First Responders
The weight of responsibility as a First Responder comes at a cost. Constant exposure to trauma, high-stakes decisions, and erratic sleep patterns can take a serious toll on our mental well-being. It is critical to break down barriers of stigma and prioritize mental health.
Christian Counseling
Christian counseling integrates Christian principles and beliefs into the counseling process. It can be used to help clients who are struggling with spiritual issues, relationship problems, or other mental health concerns.
Holistic Mental Healthcare
True healing goes beyond just treating symptoms—it embraces the whole person. Holistic mental healthcare takes a comprehensive approach, addressing not only emotional struggles but also physical health, social connections, and spiritual well-being.

I offer free, no pressure, 15-minute consultations. Let’s chat first before deciding to schedule your first therapy appointment. I often tell my clients, my role isn’t to be your counselor. My role is to promote your mental wellness and if that means being your counselor or finding a counselor who would be a best fit for you then I more than happy to do so. Stepping into the therapeutic process can bring up a lot of unsure or anxious feelings. Let me help you navigate those first steps! Call or text to set up your consultation.
